Apple fanboys and smartphone users should rejoice. The new iPhone 5 is predicted to be unveiled this October and barring any unexpected happenings or divine interventions, this Apple Inc. gadget will blow you away for the nth time. As of this writing, the pre-orders are to start this September 30th.
However, there is not a single confirmation date yet but all points lead to the much-anticipated debut next month. For the conspiracy theorists, this is all about creating a momentum and hype up the release of the new iPhone 5. Not to be confused with iPhone 4S, another Apple product, but the gossips are trending that both smartphones are going to be launched on the same date. And both will be using the latest iOS5 operating system.
For those who cannot wait to know what the specifications are, numerous rumors indicate that the new iPhone 5 will be using the dual core A5 processor, which is similar to what the iPad 2 is using. Add the 8-megapixel camera and you are on your way to having crisp and fine detailed images.
Other rumored upgrades include the voice-based navigation system and the ability to take panorama photographs. The new iPhone 5 might not have the overall color-scheme and overhaul as expected by most people, but it houses a new antenna and can connect to CDMA and GPRS networks. Mind you, Apple does not mind keeping the RAM at 512mb only, but I’m not sure if the new iPhone 5 will mind.
With these specs in mind, there is going to be a lot of orders coming in from all directions and the demand will be greater than ever. Just what Apple Inc. is doing right now? Here are some hype builders:
The design. They say the new iPhone 5 is skinny and lighter than its predecessor iPhone 4. The thing is, Apple Inc. has been pretty good at keeping this information from blowing up all over the Internet. Given the details, it is going to be much more of a challenge to mass-produce this type of design, which is cited by The Wall Street Journal.
Is there a complete overhaul? Not exactly.
According to Chris Chang of the Chinese blog site M.I.C. Gadget, the case makers of China are already mass-producing the new iPhone cases that signify a wider and longer design. He said the mute button is transferred to the opposite side of the phone, with a thin handset like that of an iPod plus with aluminum back cover much like iPad 2.
The lost new iPhone 5 prototype. Isn’t this story familiar? Recently, CNET reported a lost new iPhone 5 prototype in San Francisco, California being accidentally left behind by an Apple engineer after spending time in a tequila bar. Now it is drawing flashbacks. Last time, the iPhone 4 prototype had the same story after the first Apple engineer lost it. Gizmodo broke the news after paying about $5,000 to buy it off from the person who found it. And Gizmodo earned a visit from the California Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team (that’s a mouthful) for security purposes.
Question, is this the same Apple engineer who lost the new iPhone 5 prototype anew?
The answer does not matter. What matters is that, the new iPhone 5 is set to be released sooner than expected. Sending the prototypes to their engineer to check for a few glitches and technical fixes is a precursor that the new device is coming. Say, October 15th of this year, according to the CEO of Orange, who might have inadvertently spilled the beans just recently.
Screen size. Android rivals Samsung Galaxy S 2 and Nexus Prime are getting 4.3-inch screen size while HTC has 4.5-inches. If the new iPhone 5 has the same screen size that of iPhone 4, which is 3.5-inches, that will not bode well to the competitors.
Commercials in Production. Ad spots are on their way courtesy of long time Apple Inc. ad agency partner TBWAChiatDay, according to AppleInsider. Filming is in Los Angeles and everything should be ready after early October.
The carriers. As usual, the big carriers are in line to join Apple Inc. in the launching of the new iPHone 5. According to Wall Street Journal, Sprint will be joining the all-ready AT&T and Verizon carriers on the impending release date.
